Itinerary

Preparing yourself for the trek, includes the fact that you must. From San Isidro we will take you to the park ranger office in San Gerardo de Rivas for the check in. Then we will leave towards San Jerónimo, where you will share time with the families of San Jerónimo by lodging with them, tasting their home made food. Prepare your luggage in advance so as to be taken for the porters this day. (D)
Our tour begins after a very early breakfast in the community this morning; we will walk for about 14 km towards the Crestones Base Lodge in Chirripó National Park. The half-way point will be the Sabana de Los Leones. Four more hours and we will arrive to Crestones Base which will give us shelter for the following days. Dinner will make us warm before our first night in Chirripó. (B,L,D)
Today we will visit the highest peak in Costa Rica, Mount Chirripo at 3,820 meters a.s.l / 12,532 feet, from where, weather permitting, we could enjoy the amazing sights of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans simultaneously, as well as a panoramic view of the placid lakes in the Moraines´ Valley and the Valley of the Lakes. We will continue and visit Mount Terbi at 3,760 meters a.s.l / 12,352 feet and Crestones, great rock formations of the park. Later, back at the lodge we can take some time to walk along the Talari River while a good warm dinner is prepared. (B,L,D)
We will get prepared to hike down the mountains after breakfast; the time hiking down is usually shorter than on the way up. Many beautiful things you didn´t see on the hike up, maybe because you were a little tired, will appear to your eyes to give your trip the final touch. Snack for the hike. Once we arrive to San Jeronimo we will enjoy lunch and then travel back to San Isidro.(B,L)
